The Omnitrans E Street Corridor sbX BRT Project is a proud partnership among Omnitrans, U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Transit Administration (FTA), San Bernardino Associated Governments, the City of San Bernardino and the City of Loma Linda.
The $191.7 million Omnitrans sbX Bus Rapid Transit is fully funded. Of the total, 96 percent comes from federal, state and county funds designated for transit projects. Funding sources include $75 million from the FTA Small Starts Program, $45.62 million from the FTA Urbanized Area Formula Program, $21 million from the Federal Highway Flexible Funds for Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Program, $14.34 million from Proposition 1B Bonds, and $5.48 million from the San Bernardino County Measure I, the voter-approved half-cent sales tax, from funds dedicated to express bus and bus rapid transit.
The cities of San Bernardino and Loma Linda are contributing a combined four percent through in-kind contributions such as permit fee waivers, use of facilities owned by the cities, and spaces for the Civic Center park-and-ride.
